Problem Description

The creation of a Virtual Machine (VM) can fail with Error (2910) in System Center Virtual Machine Manager 2012 R2.

Error Message

Error (2910)
VMM does not have appropriate permissions to access the resource C:\ClusterStorage\Volume1 on the Srv.domain.com server.
Access is denied (0x80070005)
Recommended Action
Ensure that Virtual Machine Manager has the appropriate rights to perform this action.

Solution

This can happen if you use the SCVMM Service Account to login to the SCVMM Console. Use a different account which is already added to the Administrators Role in SCVMM and be sure that this account has also local admin rights on the Hyper-V Servers.
