Problem Description

Xiaomi Mi 10T and Mi 10T Pro’s microphone can stop working or transmit very little voice to the participant if you use the handsfree option in a Video Call or Meeting with Whatsapp, Google Meet, Telegram, Skype, Zoom or Signal Messenger

Solution

In most of the cases Xiaomi Mi 10T and Mi 10T Pro’s default transparent Silicon Case inside the box prevents and blocks the transmission of the voice. Xiaomi Mi 10T has 1 Microphone at the bottom and 2 Microphones at the top of the phone.

If you make a Handsfree Call or a Video Call the microphones at the top of the phone are used instead of the microphone at the bottom. Even if the phone’s Silicon Case doesn’t encase the microphone’s hole it prevents the transmission of the voice.

Basically remove the Silicon Case and try to make a Handsfree or Video Call again and check if the voice can be transmitted properly.

If removing the Case doesn’t fix your problem you can make an hardware test to check if the microphones at the top of the phone are working properly.

To check the hardware basically type *#*#4636#*#* and select “Top Microphone” from the menu and follow the instructions.
